Introduction to Weight Training

Purpose

This is a 3 day group exercise class where participants will learn some basic weight training principles and concepts that will allow them to create a personal workout routine for home and in the gym. There is a $20.00 fee for the three days of classes, along with a free health assessment that will be conducted after an appointment has been set up.

Schedule

Each day will last 1 hour and will be broken down in the following way:

Day 1

The first class will consist of a lecture and a tour of the Student Recreation and Fitness Center. Participants will be taught basic weight training principles and will be given information about the next two classes.

What to bring:

Wear athletic attire (closed toed shoes and no jeans please), pen or pencil, and paper or a notebook

Day 2

The second class will take place in a group exercise room and participants will learn a variety of exercises that can be completed at home or anywhere away from a gym. Come ready to work out as you will be practicing the exercises to make sure that you do them correctly and effectively.

What to bring:

Wear athletic attire (closed toed shoes and no jeans please), and if you prefer, a pen or pencil and a notebook, and a bottle of water

Day 3

We will start on the floor and demonstrate different exercises that can be performed in any workout facility. We will then go into the classroom and have you create a workout plan for yourself. Our highly qualified personal trainers will discuss this workout plan with you to ensure that it meets all of your goals.

What to bring:

Wear athletic attire (closed toed shoes and no jeans please), and if you prefer, a pen or pencil and a notebook, bottle of water

All registration will occur at the Membership Services desk in the SRFC. Max of 10 students/class
