CSUSB Outdoors offers a comprehensive selection of camping, backpacking, snowboarding, kayaking, surfing and climbing equipment and gear for rent to members of the CSUSB community at low prices. Our goal is to provide well maintained top quality equipment at the lowest prices. So please take advantage of what we offer.
We encourage you to rent some gear from us and explore our surroundings. Within two hours drive of campus there are hundreds of great outdoor adventures awaiting you. Don’t know were to go or what to do? CSUSB Outdoors can help you plan your outing and supply the equipment you need.

- One Day: This rate allows you to rent an item until closing the following day.
- Additional: This rate allows you to keep the item for addional days at reduced rate.
- Weekend: This rate allows you to rent from Friday to Monday Only and receive a discount
- Pricing: Students and SRFC Members / Faculty, Staff and Alumni Association
- Replacement Fee: Varies by piece of equipment. See the deposit fee.
- Late Fees: Items turned in past due date are charged the 1 Day rate for each day late.
Rental Shop Hours
Equipment Rental Summer 2010
June 19 - September 18

- Wednesday: Closed
- Thursday: 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm
- Friday: 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
- Saturday: Closed

Equipment Return
- 7 days a week during regular SRFC hours at least 1 hour before close
- Hours will be reduced during breaks and summer.

How to Pick Up and Return Equipment
Equipment Pick Up - Stop by the Student Recreation and Fitness Center (SRFC) membership services desk during the hours listed above (hours are reduced during summer and breaks) and our helpful staff will be glad check you out the gear you need. If you are unfamiliar with our gear please allow some time for us to show you how to set it up and use it.
Returns - Returns will be accepted by the Student Recreation and Fitness Center (SRFC) membership services desk during SRFC hours at least 1 hour before the center closes. When returning your equipment please be sure it is clean and dry or you may be charged a cleaning fee. All items need to be returned on the due date or you will be charged a late fee equal to the 1-day fee for each day overdue.
Reservations
At this time we do not take reservations. All equipment is available on a first come, first served basis.
Rental Policies
- All rentals must be made in person and paid in full with valid ID.
- SRFC members, faculty, staff and alumni association members are eligible to rent
- No refunds or credits will be made due to weather, road conditions, or equipment not picked up, unused or returned early. The renter is responsible to inspect all equipment, making sure all parts are in good, working order. Should something be missing, torn or broken, the Equipment Staff member should be made aware of the damage. This avoids unnecessary charges for damage you are not responsible for. Checkout can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 hour, depending upon the size and number of items rented so plan accordingly.
- A late fee will be assessed on all equipment returned after rental hours on date specified on the contract. A late fee equaling the one day rental rate will be charged for each day all equipment rented is late.
- Check in can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 hour, depending upon the size and number of items rented so plan accordingly.
- All rented equipment must be in good working order and clean. A cleaning and/or repair fee of a minimum of $25.00 will be charged for equipment returned unclean or in need of repair as determined by Equipment Staff member.
- CSUSB Outdoors is not responsible for lost, damaged, or destroyed personal property or for any personal injuries incurred while using our equipment. Renters are solely responsible for rented equipment for the duration of their contract.
