Mark Oswood - Outdoors, Climbing Wall & Marketing Supervisor
Mark is responsible for the Outdoors, Climbing Wall and Aquatics programs here at Rec Sports. He is a skilled outdoorsman and energetic guy. Mark tells us he can tame any river in a canoe. However, when he is caged in the department's office, he conquers the rabid photo copier instead. In the circle of Rec Sports, mark prey's on the marketing team. If you like to swim, climb, hike, surf, snowboard or just enjoy the outdoors, Mark is here for you.

Kari Brandt - Aquatics Supervisor and OD Trip Leader
Kari is a grad student here at Cal State working on her teaching credential. She coaches cross country for Rim of the World as well as doing many other activities on the side. She is a swimmer, rock climber, cyclist, and skier, just to name a few.

Cameron Venne - Climbing Wall Supervisor and OD Trip Leader
Cameron is Senior at CSUSB and is a creative writing English Major, but also has a strong interest in Biology (the animals mostly). He has plans to join the Peace Corps when he graduates but in the mean time is content to go with the flow and climb as much as he can. Cameron is also an experienced world traveler, having been to 11 different countries around the world. This has led to many interesting adventures, such as his two trips to Malawi, Africa to live in remote mud hut villages and build schools. Some other notable achievements include rock climbing in France, kayaking in Mexico, and several safari experiences in South Africa. Cameron has a deep love for the outdoors and enjoys climbing, camping, traveling, road tripping, exploring, backpacking, hiking, cycling, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, slacklining and lounging in a hammock with a cold one.
Rocket - OD Mascot
Rocket is in his first year at CSUSB and is undeclared as a major. He hopes to get accepted into the nursing program but is confronted with the challenge of being a stuffed animal and not able to take someone's temperature or give shots.With CSUSB Outdoors, he acts as our official mascot and plays the important role of "keeping it real"? on each outing. When not on an outing, Rocket can be found nesting deep inside of someone's backpack. 
Leontine Armstrong - OD Trip Leader
Leontine Armstrong, or otherwise referred to as Leonidas, is a person who loves everything about the outdoors. She rock climbs, body builds, swims, hikes, snowboards, and does much more. Her additional random hobbies include reading, eating and sleeping. She has earned her Associate’s Degree, Associate’s in Science, Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature, and is currently working on her Teaching Credentials and her Master’s Degree in English Literature. She plans on receiving at least two more Master’s Degrees and her Doctorate Degree before the time she turns 30. Other than the typical information on her, she is an aggressively encouraging person and continues to develop and perfect her talents through Substitute Teaching and working through the SRFC rock climbing wall and CSUSB Outdoors Program. Further goals for her are to become a B.A.M.F. rock climber, get her six pack back and continue to strike fear into those who would harm her and others. Besides this basic information on Leontine, she is constantly compared to Chuck Norris as Scott Jerzak continually substitutes her name into Chuck Norris jokes such as the following:
Leontine does not own a house, she walks into other people’s houses and they move out.

Shannon Beasley - OD Trip Leader
Shannon graduated from CSUSB in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Sciences. She is considering becoming a Registered Dietitian but is also drawn to a career in the outdoors. Her hobbies include surfing, snowboarding, kayaking, hiking and camping. She loves adventure, thrill seeking and trying new things, with the exception of eating food with onions. She is an active trip leader for CSUSB Outdoors as well as Kappa Delta Sorority, Nutrition Student Association, and more.

Matt Harp - OD Staff and Trip Leader
Matt, also known as Ryan, lives in the local mountains and is in his second year at CSUSB. His major is computer engineering and he likes to stay as busy as he can. His hobbies include snowboarding, paintballing, mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, swimming, backpacking, sleeping, camping, airsofting, weight lifting, hanging out with his brothers and anything outdoors. His favorite job that he has held is a snowboarding instructor and enjoys it from opening to closing day of the season. Before he dies, he wishes to have three masters degrees, be a part time police officer, go sky diving, bench press twice his weight and be an architect. He also volunteers within the USAF Auxiliary for the past three years and holds the rank of Cadet Major.

Jose Hiriarte - OD Trip Leader

Scott Jerzak - OD Trip Leader
Scott is from the local mountains and graduated in 2009 with a degree in Studio Art, concentration Photography. Scott is an Eagle Scout and has over 10 years experience in mountain travel. During his adventures he has learned skills in mountaineering, rock climbing, backpacking and trail running. His free time is spent taking pictures and venturing off on crazy trips. Some of his favorite accomplishments include completing the 211+ mile John Muir Trail in 12 days, hiking rim to rim of the Grand Canyon and summiting Mount Whitney a number of times. Some of his favorite places include Joshua Tree National Park, the Sierra Mountains, and anywhere else his plans may take him.
Andre Khuu - Climbing Wall Staff, Head Route Setter, and OD Trip Leader
Andre is the head route setter. He is constantly challenging even our strongest climbers on his test piece boulder problems and routes while at the same time setting interesting and unique problems. Whether Andre is climbing out at local spots or experimenting with new camera gear, Andre approaches life with a smile on his face and a rock in his hand.
Jeremy Liu - OD Trip Leader
Jeremy is a post-graduate student who is now majoring in Biology. In addition to working with the CSUSB Outdoors staff he is a Leave No Trace Trainer. In his free time he enjoys hiking, backpacking, running, biking, fishing, and just being outdoors. He is on the board of directors for the San Gorgonio Wilderness Association, a non-profit organization that works with the US Forest Service to protect and educate others about the San Gorgonio Wilderness area.

Nancy Morales - OD Trip Leader
Nancy is a junior at CSUSB, majoring in globalization with a minor in environmental studies and a certificate in GIS. Nancy would like to go to Grad school after finishing at CSUSB. She's a very laid back individual who likes to go rock climbing, hiking, camping, fishing, etc. Basically, she enjoys anything outdoors. In her free time Nancy listens to spanish music and loves eating ice cream, even on cold days.
Georgia Pallas - OD Trip Leader
Georgia received her BA in Mathematics (graduated with honors =p) in June 2006, attempted teaching 7th grade pre-Algebra for a year, and now works as the Administrative Assistant for the Arabic Program.
In her free time, she enjoys participating in community service activities, enjoying the outdoors: hiking, camping, backpacking, kayaking, rafting, rock climbing, snowshoeing, etc., spending time with family and friends, and loves soccer, photography, dancing & cooking! Like everyone else, she would like to travel the entire world during my lifetime; CSUSB Outdoors has allowed her explore quite a bit so far!
Curtis Pettygrove - Climbing Wall Staff and OD Trip Leader
Curtis loves to wake up each day with coffee in hand and the aroma filling the air. This is when he will contemplate some of his many thoughts. He is a music major. He plays the drums as he performs in some jazz shows weekly. He lives on campus and is always ready for the next adventure life throws at him. He may seem quite at first, but once you get to know him he will talk. His mind is full of ideas, some crazy, but there all good.

Orlando Valencia - OD Trip Leader
Orlando graduated from CSUSB in winter 2010 with a BA in Business Administration, concentration in Marketing. He is a trip leader for the Outdoors Program. In his free time, Orlando is usually out playing one of many sports or leading an Outdoor trip.
Daniel Verdugo - OD Staff and Trip Leader
Daniel is a Political Science Major and a Pre Law Minor that will be graduating in Spring 2011. He is part of the Outdoors staff here at CSUSB. He enjoys surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding and traveling. He is very adventurous and always looking for something exciting to participate in.
